From KISO Fotografia to Karen Evans Pictures

Big news folks. After seven years as KISO Fotografia, I'm ready for a change. So, effective immediately, my new business name will be Karen Evans Pictures. I didn't realize just how much work it would be to make a change like this; I was just excited to have a new name that better suits me - and, for you all - will be easier to say and spell! Part of the process is done - all the official government paperwork, insurance forms, etc. - and a new blog (http://www.karenevanspicturesblog.com), but the new website is still in the works. I couldn't keep this under wraps any longer!! So, please hop on over to the new blog and check out the new feel. Same great images - all imported from here - just a fresh new look and a new, easy name!

Wakeboarding

Oh no, not me, but Ken of Alyson and Ken, one of my June wedding couples. When Ken called me up a month ago and asked if I'd come up to the Sandusky River to photograph him doing wakeboard tricks, I admit I was nervous. While I shoot fast-moving events for a living, I'm not usually on a fast-moving boat while I'm doing it. I'm also not a swimmer or a sports shooter, so that's three strikes right off the bat. However, Ken's a man with a plan and it was all smooth sailing, you could say. We warmed up with Ken's brother and friends, and then Ken took his turn. It was a really great time - I had an absolute blast - and would do it again in a minute. I loved being out on the boat and the river was beautiful with the golden sunlight, even if it was in the 90s!

Misty and Dan - Columbus Athenaeum wedding

I always love shooting at The Columbus Athenaeum and was thrilled to be there for Misty and Dan's wedding held in the Priory and the Olympian Ballroom a couple Saturdays ago. Misty was beautiful in her very unique gown and the wedding was just a wonderful time all around.

If you look closely, you can see that the only part of this guy that's touching the floor is his tie!

Katherine and Chris - Greek Orthodox Cathedral wedding

I've always wanted to shoot in the ornate Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and shooting Katherine and Chris' wedding there made the experience even better. What a great, fun couple! We had a little rain, which cleared up right before the ceremony, and we even got in a trip to Graeter's, Katherine and Chris' favorite ice cream (even though I tried to change their minds with Jeni's at their engagement session!). Their reception was held at NorthPointe Conference Center and was filled with lots of Greek dancing, which is always a blast to photograph.

That's Chris' mom in the background really flinging the petals.

Katherine's maid of honor Amy brought a rain poncho to drape over Katherine's dress, and even provided mouth-wiping services.

Chris admitted afterward that smashing a little bite of cake into Katherine's face was a terrible idea, especially since she used both hands to plaster him with cake in retaliation. Katherine looks relatively unscathed, while Chris' face is covered with cake.
